Mr. McGuniess aka Coach Muggs as I knew him. I was truly blessed to have so many great memories that will last of lifetime in my mind & in my heart. I have a small story to share on year I was sitting at the batting cage after a pitching work out & Muggs walks over and saids to me what are you doing here working out this week shouldn’t you be getting for Senior Prom in a few days. I tell Muggs I’m not going my mom can’t afford to pay for the ticket. On Prom day I’m going to work out after school & go home after. Muggs says absolutely not you’re going to prom. I’m going to take care of what you need and you’re going. He tells here’s my address go to my home & I’ll have some money for you to buy your ticket to prom. I walk to Muggs house & he give me money to get a Tuxedo for prom and money to purchase my ticket. That’s something I would never forget. Muggs was the dad that none of us had growing up in the inner city. He made sure we were all taken care with whatever we need because he wanted us to enjoy life have these moments that we can share with our kids & grandkids later in life. Muggs made me & my brother the men we are today. We learned how to move in society as respected young men die to all the teachings Muggs provided to us not only on the baseball Diamond but in the class room as well. Me & my brother loved Muggs very much & I hope he knows we made it out of the Inner city to be great husbands fathers & respected members of society because of him. Thank you Muggs. I miss you very much Coach. Love Jose Jimenez.

My condolences to the McGinnis family. Muggs was one of a kind. A great friend a great person and family member. His loyalty and dedication to people were immeasurable. He took time to help me become a better sports official and i always be grateful to the things he took out of his personal time to help me. I remember the summer of 79 when he took everyone from our shore house in Lavalette to dinner at the Olde School Inn. A generous man with a generous heart. You will be missed. RIP MUGGS

You think you've accepted that someone is out of your life, that you've grieved and it's over, and then bam. One little thing, and you feel like you've lost that person all over again.

Muggs represented everything good about growing up in Paterson. He was a neighborhood leader and always fun to be around! He was proud of his heritage and being part of a Great community. He was a friend to all and lived Life to the fullest.
I had the opportunity to spend time with him this past Sunday and he talked about so many things from the neighborhood to Don Bosco tech to coaching and of course mostly his cherished daughter and granddaughter!!
Muggs you will be missed RIP!

My condolences to the McGinnis family.
I had the pleasure of meeting Muggs when I entered DBT in 1974, tried out for baseball, and then had him as my calculus teacher senior year. He was a great teacher and a great guy, and loved by every student.
He was our teacher and did his job well, but he was also someone who treated us as peers and friends. I remember him hosting a party for some of the seniors a couple days before we graduated, and I was lucky enough to be invited and attend.
Muggs is remembered by all, and will stay with us for a long time. RIP.
