Obituary of Andrew Clive Jones

Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Andrew Clive Jones, 58, a beloved and inspiring creative force, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2024.

Born on December 6, 1965, in Bristol, United Kingdom, Andrew was the first son of Graham and Diane Jones. After studying Communication for Graphic Arts at Brunel University, he worked in printing and design before realizing his dream of coming to America in 1992. While he took immense pride in his roots and heritage from the United Kingdom, he was equally proud to have become a U.S. citizen in 2022.

For over 30 years, Andrew had a successful career in graphic design, but his true calling was as a teacher at Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools. For the past decade, he taught graphic design, digital media, and animation with boundless passion. Andrew cared deeply for his students, going above and beyond to inspire and provide them with the tools to achieve their creative visions.

Andrew was a Renaissance man—a writer, builder, artist, photographer, and musician with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. His inquisitive mind, intelligence, and desire to make the world better were evident in his nuanced nature. Andrew approached life with enthusiasm, finding excitement in the act of creating and inventing things that could improve people’s lives.

To those who knew him, Andrew was a kind, gentle soul who left a lasting impression. He taught everyone around him to live life to the fullest, love unconditionally, and never give up on their dreams. His caring spirit and mission to help others defined who he was.

“Andrew was the most loving, thoughtful, and caring person I’ve ever known,” his wife reminisced. “He had me at ‘Ello.’ A creative, passionate, and inspiring force, he could accomplish anything he set his mind to. I affectionately called him my own Leonardo da Vinci. Andrew completed me with his unconditional love, accepting me for who I was, inside and out. Not a single day went by without us sharing laughter and inside jokes in our own special way. I feel incredibly fortunate to have spent the past 17 years by his side. These cherished memories will forever be etched in my heart.”

“In Andrew’s own words:”

“Many people that know me, just know one or two facets of who I am, there are few that truly know me... These days I tend to lead a purpose driven life, powered by trying to help anyone that crosses my path and needs a helping hand.

“If I have learned anything in this lifetime, it is that if you fight life, life will fight right back (At its core, life simply reflects, returns the very vibrations, and actions we ourselves generate.) Alternatively, if you accept each moment with a smile (a grimace will suffice, hehe) life will give you just what you need when you need it. :)

“Give a stranger a smile today, believe in the butterfly effect, you may just cause a tsunami of love!”

“If a man for whatever reason has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.”

– Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Andrew is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife DeAnne Finamore-Jones and their beloved fur babies, Bugsy, and Mimi. He leaves behind his son Gavin Jones, daughter-in-law Nikita Jones, and precious granddaughter Gaia Jones, as well as his daughter Emma Jones. Andrew will be deeply missed by his parents Diane and Graham Jones, brothers Nick Jones and partner Sara Hodgson, their daughter Katie Jones, and brother Paul Jones, wife Petra Jones, and dog Ronnie. He will also be missed by his father-in-law, Robert A. Finamore, brother-in-law Robert J. Finamore, sister-in-law Patrice Finamore, niece Sabrina Finamore, and nephew Bobby Finamore. He will forever be cherished by so many relatives and friends in the UK, as well as all his family, friends, colleagues, and students in the U.S.

A visitation will be held at Keri-Lozito Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ, on Saturday, March 30th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page has been established to create a scholarship for a student in the Graphic Design Program at Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools that will be awarded in his honor.
