Dear Mike
I know that this must be a very difficult time for you. Nothing can ever really prepare you for the sense of loss when a parent dies. I know that you and your father shared a special relationship. The pain you're feeling is a natural part of the grieving process and is a symbol of how much your father will be missed. I wanted you to know that I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and if there's anything I can do to help make this time less painful for you, you have only to ask.
Again, you have my deepest sympathies on the loss of your dear father.

I was completely shocked to hear the news that my first cousin Ernie passed away. Ernie was only one month older than I. Growing up we spent a lot of time together especially at the house on top of the hill off McBride Avenue. Ernie's father and my father were brothers which made our two families very close.
I know how much he will be missed by his loving family.
My prayers will be with Ernie and his family.
Rest in peace my cousin.

Dear Donna and Diane,
Many years have passed since we were children of Anthony Blvd……but I remember your father well. He was very strong but a no games kind of guy when we all screwed up…on the flip side ….he also was wonderfully kind when it came to giving advice. (When we were young I'm sure we thought it more opinionated that wonderfully kind) I remember coming to your house on occasion and him grilling me about something that might have happened at school or in the neighborhood….He knew we were mischievous and he was the consummate, skillful police officer gathering his facts before handing down judgement. As much as he scared me a bit, I respected his morals and values. Many days we would be playing electric guitar downstairs….Your Mom cooking away in the kitchen…..and he would have Caruso blasting through-out the house. As you can see from my married name…Giovinazzo…I married into a family lifestyle that closely resembles what you had when you were younger….Only Im your Mom…cooking away (but I am also the Director of a private school) I have 2 daughters Asunta, Andi, two sons Vincenzo, and Anthony all in their 20's. I would like to think your family moved me to that traditional italian lifestyle….
I guess what this message is about…is for you both to rejoice in what your Dad gave you…I can see you have a big beautiful extended family…hold tight to the memories…Everything he gave to you was with a dose of Love. May he Rest in Peace Your Old Friend Susan Tynan/Giovinazzo

Ernie and I were "Fidelian Friends" for about 30 years. I am not Paterson raised but got to know him because we both had the same first name and we always spoke to each other every week. A few years ago we would meet in Florida and party with other Fidelians. Just before leaving for Florida we sat together, at the club, and attempted to solve all of Americas problems. I remember asking him if he was planning a trip, so we could meet.
When I read the e/mail about his passing I was stunned and saddened. Iam now without a very good Fidelian Friend.
Iam still in Florida and will not be able to attend any of the planned services but my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am so sorry!

Dear Ventrella Family:
The passing of D/C Ventrella caught me by surprise. Ernie was a person who I thought would always be here. We worked together for 30 years and he was a true professional. I remember him as being "down to Earth", always cognizant of others' personal situations but encouraging to PPD members to always do the job and to do it the right way, regardless of what was going on in their personal lives. He was dedicated to the citizens of Paterson, his family and friends. Ernie was really easy to get along with and never let rank come between him and subordinates. I will miss the many laughs we shared and stories as well as his friendship. Rest in Peace, Belleza!
Warmest regards,
Jim Buckley

D/C Ventrella , one on the most respected members of the Paterson Police Department , a person who you can turn to if you had a problem. He helped so many of us during the course of our careers and stood up for the us when we needed him to. Simply put he was the BEST OF THE BEST and he will be missed. God speed to his family and may he rest in internal peace in the hands of our lord.
